Eric D. Scott I have worked in University of California libraries for more than 15 years and I have been involved with large and small construction and renovation projects. The largest of these is the UC Merced Library, where I currently wear the dual hats of Director of Administrative Services and Head of Access Services. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in History and Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles, I worked in libraries for several years before pursuing an MLIS at San Jose State University. Prior to my work in Libraries, I was a journeyman carpenter working for small contractors doing primarily residential remodeling and residential and light commercial construction. I have also spent several years in US Army Special Forces and served on a US Department of Energy Special Response Team.
When I’m not running the day-to-day operations of the library so my esteemed co-author can focus on his prolific publishing, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife, Claudia Lange, and enjoying our five cats (a.k.a. “The Pride”) led by an affectionate but willful 18-pound male Maine Coon named Viggen (Thunderbolt). I am also an advisor for the Sports Shooting Club at UC Merced and regularly teach firearms safety and personal defense to members of the public.
